Benton Island Block Party

The block party was a huge success. Kass McMahon did a helluva job organizing the entire thing, and she thought of everything, including the sunshine! Probably 75 neighbors attended, sharing great potluck dishes and getting to know one another better.

Join SMP Residents
in Playing Santa!
Wonderful volunteers will visit Laguna Honda Hospital on Christmas Day to deliver bagfuls of gifts to residents. Many park residents generously donated warm clothing, socks and mittens as holiday gifts. If you missed the wrapping and pizza party Tuesday night, you missed a lot of fun! Email our new Sgt at Arms, Heather Baria at hbaria@att.net for details on how you can make a difference in so many peoples' lives.

Santa Visited St. Mary's Park!

Leave your porch light on Saturday, December 15th for Santa to pay you a visit between 6 and 9PM. Listen for Santa's music and peek out the window. Santa will have treats for the kids.

Community Holiday Party
December 14th

Rocky from St. Mary's Recreation Center has planned a Community Holiday Party on Friday December 14, from 5-7:30 PM. The Center will provide games, food, music, entertainment, and lots of fun and enjoyment for everybody. Please call Rocky at the Rec Center (695-5006) with any questions.

Halloween Comes
to St. Mary's Park...

Pumpkin Judging Was Tonight!
Not sure which way the wind blew yet, but am told there were lots of new participants bringing fresh ideas to the park... I see the giant spider is being erected on lower Benton - always a thrill to see how that develops... If you don't have any trick-or-treaters of your own to chaperone, take turns with your partner or neighbor in handing out candy so you can take a walk and see all the cleverness that is St. Mary's Park. The witches and goblins had their fun already on Mischief Night in the form of a 5.6 quake in Alum Rock. Is "Mischief Night" strictly a Philadelphia-area phenomenon? Email me...

Way to Go, Jenni O!

Jenni Olson, neighborhood historian, filmmaker, resident and activist, got involved and made a difference for residents of upper College and beyond. Starting in early September, she campaigned Supervisor Tom Ammiano's office to install cautionary signs around the College/Genebern/Justin traffic circle to advise drivers that cars on College do not have a stop sign. Because of her wonderful tenacity and bull-doggedness, signs should be installed in the next few weeks advising drivers approaching from Justin and Genebern that cross traffic does not stop. Thanks, Jenni!!

October 9 - General meeting 7:30PM at the Rec Center. Come meet the District 9 Supervisorial candidates and SMPIC officer nominations

October 30 - Halloween Pumpkin Contest in the evening

November 13 - General meeting 7:30PM. Cole Hardware will make a presentation. SMPIC officer elections.

December 11 - Holiday Potluck Dinner and Officer installations.
